Petra Kvitova v Donna Vekic Head to Head
There have been four previous meetings between these two and Kvitova leads 3-1 on head to head. In outdoor hardcourt competitions, it’s 2-0 in favour of Kvitova with both her wins over Vekic having come in this very competition.
Kvitova Routs Noskova
Following a first round bye, Kvitova dropped a mere three games in her second round encounter against Linda Noskova to sail through. A quarterfinalist last year, Kvitova used up a mere 68 minutes in her straight-set win.
The world number 12 won 6-3, 6-0 despite dropping her serve in the very second game of the match. In turn she got the better of her opponent’s serve on six separate occasions.
It has been a solid season for Kvitova so far with the Czech having won two successive matches at the United Cup, Adelaide International 2 and WTA Dubai. She went one better at the Indian Wells Open where Kvitova reached the quarterfinal before going down to Maria Sakkari.
Can she now tame Vekic for the third time in this tournament?

Vekic Needs Three Sets against Brengle
Having risen in the rankings to 20th in the world, Vekic was a heavy favourite in her second round match against Madison Brengle. Brengle, however, carved out the first set and made Vekic fight hard for her victory.
In a match lasting an hour and 52 minutes, Vekic finally came through 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to reach the third round.
Vekic, who has never entered round four in Miami before this, was down an early break and while she fought back to level out things, Brengle scooped up the set with a decisive break in the ninth game.
The players traded four breaks of serves in the second set before Vekic stormed to an equaliser by getting the better of Brengle’s serve in the 10th game. She repeated that in the first four games of the decider and clinched in three.
This was Vekic’s 15th win of the season to go with a mere three defeats. In this kind of form, she could prove to be a handful.
Kvitova v Vekic Prediction and Tip
While Kvitova is a favourite here, Vekic might not be a pushover here. Expect a three-setter in the end.
