Noble Yeats Grand National Odds 2023: Last Year’s Winners Price

The Noble Yeats Grand National odds for 2023 see last year’s hero as one of the betting favourites as he looks to try and defend his Aintree crown. Can he become only the third ‘back-to-back’ winner since 1974?

Noble Yeats One Of The 2023 Grand National Betting Favourites

Noble Yeats was the bookies friend last year in the race the ‘once-a-year’ punters crawl out of the woodwork, as he returned a massive 50/1.

Plus, with no personal name attached to the horse – unless you’re called Noble or Yeats – then it’s fair to say not many punters, who can often latch onto a name of a horse that’s associated with them, backed the Waley-Cohen-owned hero.

The bad news for horse racing fans is that Noble Yeats is not going to be 50/1 this year. The Grand National bookmakers are taking no chances and are making him one of the betting favourites.

You can back NOBLE YEATS for the 2023 Grand National at 8/1 – you can support him here and also get the best Grand National betting offers.

Last Year’s Winner Will Carry a Lot More Weight This Time

The other thing to note ahead of this year’s Grand National is Noble Yeats will carry a lot more weight.

12 months ago, the the Emmet Mullins runner was rated 147, but having won the National and since also winning the G2 Many Clouds Chase at Aintree, the horse has risen up the ranks. He’s now rated 166.

As a result, the handicapper has also given him a lot more weight to carry this time. Noble Yeats won the Grand National with 10st 10lbs in 2022, but he’s set to carry 11st 11lbs this time – a rise of 15lbs.

Did you know? Since 1978, 134 horses have tried to win with more than 11st 5lbs and just two have been successful – Many Clouds (11st 9lbs) and Neptune Collonges (11st 6lbs).

Noble Yeats Defied the Grand National Trends Last Year

12 months ago, Noble Yeats finally broke a Grand National trend that had stood for a massive 82 years.

This was the fact he was winning the Merseyside Marathon as a 7 year-old and the last horse of this age to land the Grand National was Bogstar in 1940.

Of course, Noble Yeats, will now be running in the race as an 8 year-old – but this age is much more common to throwing up Grand National winners in recent times.

Since 2015, we’ve seen Many Clouds, One For Arthur, Tiger Roll and Minella Times all win as 8 year-olds. That’s a 57% strike-rate in the last seven years.

2022 Grand National Champ Looking to Join Tiger Roll and Red Rum as a Back-to-Back Winner

Winning one Grand National is hard enough for any horse, so it’s probably no shocker to hear that to win the world’s greatest steeplechase two years in-a-row is a very rare thing.

Yes, we actually witnessed the mighty Tiger Roll win the race in 2018 and 2019, but prior to that you have to go back to Red Rum in 1973 and 74 to find the last horse to successfully defend their Grand National title.

Then, even before Red Rum, you must whizz back to 1935 and 36 when Reynoldstown did the double – the second with a remarkable 12st -2lbs on his back.

Noble Yeats will be the latest horse trying to join this select Grand National club.
