Tips to get more legroom on easyJet and Ryanair flights at no extra cost

Must read

Air travel can often be a cramped experience, but there’s a simple trick that could make your journey more comfortable.

Extra legroom is a luxury many dream of, especially on long-haul flights where the ability to stretch out can mean the difference between a peaceful journey and a stressful one.

Experts have now discovered a way to secure extra legroom on flights with airlines such as Ryanair and easyJet, without having to pay any additional fees.

The secret lies in the seat you choose when booking your flight, as certain seats offer more space than others.

A presenter from Which? explains: “Want more seat on a flight? Sit on the right.”

They explained: “Take Ryanair, for example, almost all of their planes are Boeing 737’s. So choosing seats D, E or F in rows 3 to 15 will give you the most legroom”

Talking about easyJet, they added: “With easyJet, meanwhile, you should choose seats D, E or F in rows 3 to 13 if you’re flying on their Airbus A321neo. It will give you an extra inch of legroom compared to sitting in rows 6 to 17 on the left hand side of the plane.”

However, the hack comes with a caveat – while these seats typically offer an extra inch of legroom, results may vary as all planes are different.

They advised: “All planes are different, so it’s always worth checking before you book. Just head to Google Flights and type your destination and dates in to find the model number. Then use seat plan experts AeroLOPA to find your aircraft’s configuration.”

While some TikTok users scoffed at the tip for offering a mere extra inch of legroom, taller travellers expressed gratitude for any additional space.

One tall passenger commented: “Being 6’1 on a Ryanair flight, an inch is very welcome.” Another quipped: “I’m 6’5, every cm of leg room helps.”
