Beautiful sandy and tranquil cove is one of UK’s best beaches

Must read

As the weather finally heats up ahead of the summer season, it’s the ideal time to enjoy the British coastline.

If you’re planning a beach trip for the late May bank holiday, why not travel to one of the UK’s prettiest coastal spots?

According to the team at Away Resorts, Runswick Bay is one of the best beaches on the Yorkshire coast.

A spokesperson said: “Runswick Bay is one of the quieter beaches in the UK, located on the Yorkshire coast, known for its picturesque red-roofed cottages and stunning sandy cove.

“This secluded spot offers a true sense of tranquillity and is a favourite among locals and visitors alike.”

Just under 10 miles from Whitby, Runswick Bay is part of the Jurassic coast and a great fossil-hunting spot.

While it’s quite a small beach, it’s one of the area’s more secluded spots and it’s usually much quieter than other spots on the Yorkshire coastline.

A tourist wrote on Tripadvisor: “Lovely, long clean beach that’s ideal for dog walkers. Nice cafe for a coffee afterwards.”

Another person said: “Beautiful bay with glorious sand. Walked along the Cleveland Way from Staithes which took about an hour and a half.”

One person said: “Lovely little dog friendly beach. Was very clean and the water was calm and clean too. Lots of dog walkers, friendly and playful stroll in the sunshine.”

Many tourists recommend stopping at the Tides Coffee Bar and Beach Shop at the end or start of your walk.

The beachside cafe sells coffee, snacks and ice-cream and is the perfect spot to unwind after a walk.

The weather is set to be 17 degrees in Runswick next Saturday although tourists might need to wait until summer for true sunbathing weather.

Runswick Bay is a dog-friendly spot all year round so tourists can bring their furry friends at any time.
