Cate Blanchett cut a stylish figure in a navy co-ord as she hosted a Women In Motion talk during Cannes Film Festival on Monday.

The Australian actress, 55, looked incredible as she tucked a navy denim shirt into a pair of matching wide legged trousers.

She seemed in good spirits as she wore a pair of quirky silver framed glasses and kept comfortable in a pair of white trainers.

Leaving her blonde waved tresses loose, the Ocean’s 8 star simply accessorised her outfit with a chunky gold ring.

Cate, who wore a radiant palette of makeup, was all smiles as she spoke on a panel during the event.

It comes after Cate received a four-minute standing ovation for her new film Rumours on Saturday as it premiered at the 77th annual film festival.

She was every inch the silver screen queen as she posed on the red carpet ahead of the screening.

Cate stunned in a puffy gold gown that featured dramatic pleating on the bodice, beaded shoulders and a dramatic fishtail skirt.

Looking like a woman half her age, the svelte blonde highlighted her age-defying complexion with pink blush, taupe lipstick and liquid eyeliner, and swept her hair back into a messy up-do.

She completed her look with gold drop earrings and a large ring on her wedding finger.

Cate beamed and waved at photographers and adoring onlookers as she swanned down the red carpet with the cast and directors of Rumours.

Rumours tells the story of world leaders who meet at the G7 but get lost in the forest while trying to write a joint statement.

Cate portrays Hilda Ortmann, a German chancellor who bears a more than passing resemblance in hairstyle and clothes taste to former leader Angela Merkel.

The leaders meet at a country estate to draft a statement about the ‘global crisis’ but are knocked off course when bad things happen after the exhumation of an Iron Age corpse for a photo opportunity.

Cate said: ‘I think if you try to make sense of this movie, you’ll feel like you’re losing your mind. It’s not trying to be an important film with a message.’

Charles Dance was chosen to be the President of the United States who was completely British as a surrealist touch.

Director Maddin said it might have the audience ask: ‘What if the revolutionary war went another way? What if (America) just stayed a colony?’

Co-director Galen Johnson said: ‘Or what about if America became so conservative that it became a colony again.’

Cate’s co-star Alicia Vikander did not attend the premiere.
